Les Miserable Review

wanted to do other reviews but after watching this movie, i just had to do this first.

Les Miserables is a 2012 movie adaptation of the novel Les Miserables.  This is no normal movie, it's a musical. So if you really really really dislike musicals this is not the one for you.

I'm sure you would recognize some of the actors or actresses on the cover. Yes, Hugh Jackman from Wolverine is on this, and yes Anne Hathaway, and Amanda Seyfried is in this musical too. (and no i did not know that Amanda Seyfried can sing soprano)

The story is about 19th century France, when the civil war was currently going on. Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) finally free from slavery, decided to lead a new life, but unfortunately, the policeman Javert (Russell Crowe) figured out his fake identity and tried to capture him. Jean Valjean meets Fantine (Anne Hathaway) and agrees to look after her daughter Cosette (Amanda Seyfried) just before Fantine dies. Then 8 years later, the civil war breaks out and Cosette falls in love with Marius (Eddie Redmayne) who was fighting the war himself. This story is truly about fight, dream, hope, and love.

This musical is truly a musical, where every dialogue was exchanged through music and singing, there were only 2 sentences where they didn't use singing to communicate their ideas. For a music geek like I am, I really enjoyed the music because it was brilliant and I felt like it actually communicates the character's feeling better than normal dialogue would. The movie was very touching and sad that throughout the whole story, I teared up a lot, and of course, as the crier that I am, I was literally bawling at the end. Even if you didn't enjoy the story, the music would just capture your heart. (i still sat there and listened to the music way after the credits started rolling).

At first, when Marius meets Cosette, I was like this is romeo and juliet all over again. But later on, I realized their love is different, and besides Marius was totally cute :/ Other than that, I really really really enjoyed and totally loved this movie. I hope there will be other awesome musicals soon like this one :) .

IF YOU LOVE SINGING IN SCHOOL CHOIRS AND LOVE MUSIC, SERIOUSLY WATCH THIS MOVIE OMG IT'S SO FREAKING AWESOME . k as for rating no doubt 5 out of 5 for everything. Like really, it's even nominated for oscar...

If you are curious about the music, do search it up. Here's a youtuber who did all 7 character's songs perfectly alone.  He is awesome. (how often do you see a guy who can sing soprano? not often.) My favourite pieces in this movie were One Day More and Do You Hear The People Sing (where I totally cried when they sang it)

and there's that, watch this movie in the theater if you can and stay tune for the next review ;) .

Looking for alaska review

so today is a friday and im bored and i like reviewing stuff and i just felt like reviewing something else :)
just a side note: there is  A LOT of snow outside, its finally like how winter should be and im happy about that :/ even though its kinda of a snow storm LOOL anyways

since last time i reviewed John Green's The Fault In Our Stars , i've decided to review Looking For Alaska as well, but i read it a few weeks ago so there might not be that many information :/

cool book cover eh? anyways, i first heard of this book in a class discussion. we were supposed to suggest the best books that we've ever read, and a lot of people repeatedly suggested this book. Before this, I have never read any books by john green so i am kind of curious

The story is about a teen named Miles (or Puck as other people call him) who goes to a boarding school and is obsessed with famous people's last words, meets Alaska Young who is obviously gorgeous and funny. Her presence really changed his life and the way he sees the world.

At first glance at the title, many people, including me ofcourse, thought it was about looking for the country alaska, but really, it's about looking for Alaska Young, a girl in the story. The story is separated into two parts - before and after. Both takes place one hundred and thirty six days before/after the main event. When I started reading, I was really sucked into the story because it is sometimes suspenseful and sometimes fun to read about what the characters are doing. I feel like I am actually following the journey of Puck and experiencing these things with him. This is one of the reasons I liked John Green and this novel, I can relate to it. Well, maybe not the events, but to the way the people talk and they behave. As for the concept of looking for alaska, they are not "looking for" alaska exactly, as in literally, instead, he means looking into her past and trying to understand her.

In a way, this book is just like The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, if you ever read that one. Teenagers smoke in it, they drink in it. But for some reason, this is all so interesting to read. this book also taught me a lot of important lessons like YOLO. lol but seriously .

my favourite character in this book is probably the Colonel. He certainly was a very strong character and he plans all the pranks they do. His ideas are really bold and he is really bold. I just like that kind of personality, even though he is a bad boyfriend. :/

Anyways at the end of this, or i mean at the middle of this, i did cry a little bit. But overall, i did not want to drop the book at all. This is a definite read and i would give it a 5 out of 5. :) Good job John Green, you just successfully captured a new reader ! Go check this book out guys, and if you did, i hope you felt the same way i did when i read the book.

The fault in our stars + Madoka magica review (long post)

so um.. i haven't been on this for a long time :/ mostly because there wasn't any emotional moments that i would like to jot down or inspirations for a poem. so today i've decided to come back again to update this, and hopefully i can keep up the reputation c;
well, i've said that i would do anime or book reviews but i havent kept my promise so today ill do one anime and one book review that i had just finished reading/watching recently.

kso, the first book review i'm going to do is The Fault In Our Stars by John Green.

Recently there was this huge hype about John Green and his books and i've decided to try one of his books, which happened to be Looking For Alaska. (no reviews sorry, but def check it out). I was surprised when I read the book because it really captivated me. Normally i dont prefer books that are about teenager lives and no fantasy elements in it, but john green's style of writing really captivated me. It was like he really knows how we felt and how we talk, and I felt like the book was actually spoken from that character's point of view (unlike in other books, where the language just doesnt really match the character). Anyways so I really liked Looking For Alaska, so i decided to try The Fault In Our Stars next because it's the most recent one.

This book is basically about a girl - Hazel who is diagnosed with lung cancer, and she meets this (hotsmartfunny) guy in support group (obviously) named Augustus. They immediately clicked because of their past + present experiences with cancer and because they really just match each other (OTP if you know what I mean). So they go through a lot of things together and they really talked about life and their fears, mostly of dying of cancer.

When you read the plot synopsis, it actually sounds like there isnt much to the story other than two cancer kids meet eachother and fall in love with happy ending. But no, John Green really made this a very special story because as I read it, I felt like there was a lot we didnt know about dying. Also, a lot of life lessons can be learned from this book and it really makes you think after you finish. There was also a lot of memorable quotes in this book that really inspires you. At first when I read the story, i realized that John Green had kept his witty writing style (some of it was actually really funny, i laughed so hard) but the plot didnt really captured my attention, because it wasn't really advancing. So that was a disappointment. But towards the end, the whole book turns really touching, and I did teared up a lot. The twist ending really made me really sad and I really cried a lot because SPOILER ALERT SKIP SMALL PRINT IF DONT WANT TO BE SPOILED: omg augustus died i was so sad omg poor otp and hazel .

So yeah, overall, I would give a 4.5 out of 5 stars for this book. If the plot had advanced more and had more suspense I would've gave it a 5. :/ But oh well, John Green good try. I still like your writing style though. :)

for anime review, i had recently finished Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

i know what youre thinking, but please, if youre not going to judge a book by its cover then dont judge an anime by its art please. i mean it , cuz i thought of the same thing when i saw the cover too. i mean really, it does look like some childish magic girls changing into uniforms and fighting evil/cute monsters. but NO and i mean it NO, if youre looking for those animes, this is not the one for you.

without spoiling (because to give the whole plot there will be A LOT of spoilers), this anime is basically about Madoka (the girl in pink) meets and saves a strange creature called Kyubey, who offered to grant her and her friend (the girl in blue) a wish if they become magic girls.

other than the art of the characters (even though it gets kind of cute after a while), the first three episodes were pretty happy and the technological future was very interesting to watch. But as the fourth episode rolls along, even at the end of the third, the mood totally changes, it gets really really dark, and everything just took a sharp turn. obviously, you would expect the main character - Madoka to become a magic girl like in the first few episodes, but no, half way into the anime, she is still a normal girl, while all her friends had became magical. I was kind of mad at the moment because I really wanted to see her in her pink uniform LOOL and because she was supposed to be a really strong mahou shoujou (magic girl). So this anime, like the book above, was really sad at the end. many sacrifices were made and it really wasnt a happy anime like i originally thought. but i should say, its really really really really cool though. even though it doesnt really have the cool fighting scenes like in other jump animes, it does sends a lot of important messages out into the audience and it is definitely not intended for young children under the age of 12, because it really is serious.

no wonder it got so many awards :/

As for main character, at first I thought i liked Rinko (the girl in red) cuz she likes to eat, but later on in the story, I started to like Homura Akemi (girl in black) because she was really strong and loyal.

Overall, i really liked this anime and had already recommended many of my friends to watch it. So if you dont mind the childish art and sad plots, you should definitely check it out. 

As for rating, I would rate the art 3 out of 5. The plot would definitely be a 5 out of 5. The ost would be 4.5 out of 5. (because it's by the same composer as pandora hearts' ost). Overall it would be a 4.5 out of 5.

P.S. the opening was so addicting i liked it the first time i heard it, def check it out : Connect - ClariS.
